5 Ingredients To Look For In Moisturizer

Hi beauties!

When it comes to skincare, choosing the right moisturizer can be tricky.  Recently, I have asked a friend of mine who is a pharmacist, what is her preferred cosmetic brand.  Her reply surprised me, as she said, it does not matter as long as the ingredients are right. This made me think and I researched it more thoroughly.

Creams, serums, oils, they all promise you something.  Does it mean that you should you opt-in for big brands to ensure that such promise is delivered?

Perhaps that´s not the best idea.  The price you pay for a product will not determine how effective it´s actually going to be.

Instead there are 5 ingredients that you should look for in moisturizers.

Dimethicone, you will find it in a variety of beauty products, such as skincare, makeup or even hair care products.  It helps fill in uneven texture and fine lines, creating a smooth, flawless look.  It also creates a protective layer over your skin ensuring that all the moisture stays in.

Hyaluronic Acid, this popular ingredient can be found in many moisturizers and serums. It has the ability to plump and soften your skin. What is interesting is that it can be also found in human body.

Glycerin, also called glycerol, is a lipid found both in animal and vegetable fats. Most importantly it´s a humectant, which means that it readily absorbs and retains water, keeping your skin smooth and hydrated.

Petrolatum, or as you can read on the Vaseline packaging petroleum jelly, which is another name for it. If you´re struggling with rough and dry skin, this is the ingredient you should look out for, as it prevents water loss. However, if you have normal to oily skin you might want to skip it.

Ceramides, are fats naturally found in the epidermis, the skin’s outer layer. As they make up a major component of the skin structure, it is vital to maintain your skin´s natural moisture barrier.  As a matter of fact if you have dry, damaged skin it may be a sign of low ceramide levels.

Hopefully this will help you decide which moisturizer to buy.  And if you have any other useful ingredients to list let us know! You can comment below or drop us an email.

Till next time!
